More information on the rollout of the new OEC 5th Edition
Please click on the links below for more information on the rollout of the new OEC 5th edition. As indicated in my last update, I will be hosting a meeting of IOR’s, IT’s, and OEC Region Staff on June 5th at my home in Old Orchard Beach (click on link below for directions) beginning at 8:30AM. IOR’s, IT’s and Region OEC Staff are strongly recommended to attend. Please RSVP to let me know if you are attending so that we can make proper arrangements. Lunch will be provided with donations appreciated. If you are a PD and I have not included your IOR for your mountain can you please let them know.
I recommend that everyone attending to order your new book to review and bring it with you the day of the meeting. Please click on the link below to read a document that is available on the NSP website that describes the differences between the 4th and 5th editions. The June 5th meeting will allow for discussion but will also be a mandatory 5th edition refresher that will allow the participants to begin teaching any OEC class or program.

The Senior EMM Exam was held at Saddleback on March 6, 2011
I want to express my appreciation to all that participated in Our Senior EMM Evaluation. Staff, Train Evaluators (T/E), and participants took to the slopes on a rainy March day at Saddleback for this great
event. Special thanks go to Paul Rawson, Chief EMM Examiner, Tom Bull, Assistant Examiner, and Bob Greene, Scene Coordinator (and his team-Jeff Smith and Paul Forman), for their organization and presentation of the exam. Scott Rockefeller, Eastern Division Supervisor for Maine was also in attendance to provide oversight for the exam.
Examiners who participated included: Ted Eames, Elizabeth Bell-Folsom, Jim Faulkner, Peter Bruell, Denise Pascucci, David Lemieux, Mark Lafaver, Mark Leblond, Gerry Desjardin, Roland Gaumont and Peter Strome.
Congratulations to the following successful candidates: Steve Banahan, Chris Riley, Jeff Mann, Eric Bohrmann, Fred Iannazzi, and Lauri Sibulicin who did not let the elements discourage or distract them from their successful leadership in their scenarios.
Thank you as well to all who participated in the clinics this year. Without the support of PD’s, TE’s and Leadership Staff we would not be able to offer a quality program to our member mountains and their patrollers. We look forward to next year’s evaluation and invite all patrollers to consider this great program.
